Extended Access
The Coppice and Angmering Medical Centre is committed to improving access to primary care services. This includes making appointments available at times that are convenient to patients.
If you:
- find it difficult to attend an appointment during the working day
- are a busy parent with small children
- or rely on working carers to take you to appointments.
Then this service is here to support you.
We work closely with Fitzalan Medical Group to provide this service.
Appointments are available from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday and from 9am to 4pm on a Saturday, and must be booked in advance calling 01903 850900.
You will be seen by an experienced clinician from either Fitzalan or Angmering Medical Centre. If you would prefer to see your usual GP or practice nurse, please book an appointment with The Coppice and Angmering Medical Centre during our normal opening hours.
Non-urgent
Use NHS 111 if:
- You need help now, but it’s not an emergency
There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
Minor Injuries Unit
This is located at The Park Surgery Minor Injuries Unit and is open Monday to Friday, from 9am until 5:30pm.
24-hour cover is available at the Accident & Emergency Department at Worthing Hospital for more serious complaints.
Out of hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Urgent But Not Life Threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention
Life Threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself – for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
About Us
Armed Forces Veteran Friendly
friendly accredited
GP practice
Proud to support our Armed Forces
We're a Veteran Friendly GP practice
Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past and their families, should face no disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services.
Special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for the injured and bereaved.
Primary Care Network
The Coppice Surgery/Angmering Medical Centre and Fitzalan Medical Group form a PCN. A PCN is a primary care network that consists of groups of general practices working together with a range of local providers, including across primary care, community services, social care and the voluntary sector, to offer more personalised, coordinated health and social care to their local populations.
Networks would normally be based around natural local communities typically serving populations of at least 30,000 and not tending to exceed 50,000. They should be small enough to maintain the traditional strengths of general practice but at the same time large enough to provide resilience and support the development of integrated teams.
Practice Health Champions
Who are the Practice Health Champions?
Practice Health Champions are patients of our surgery who, voluntarily, dedicate their time to work alongside our staff. Their goal is to find new ways to enhance the services the practice offers and to help address the health needs of patients and the wider community.
These Practice Health Champions collaborate with the surgery staff as peers, with the aim of improving services and developing new opportunities. The specific work of a Practice Health Champion can vary, depending on their interests and experiences, the needs of the practice, and the local community's health priorities.
Currently, our champions host a walk from Angmering Community Centre every Tuesday followed by tea and cake, they have started a bereavement service and you will also see them as welcomers at Angmering Medical Centre supporting our Reception team and assisting patients with queries.
If you would like to find out more about becoming a Practice Health Champion please complete the following form and we will be in touch.

Practice Performance
GP Patient Survey
The GP Patient Survey is an independent survey run by Ipsos MORI on behalf of NHS England. The survey is sent out to over two million people across England. The results show how people feel about their GP practice.
Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) makes sure hospitals, care homes, dental and GP surgeries, and all other care services in England provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care and encourages them to make improvements where possible.
Our overall CQC Rating was: GOOD
Patient Participation Group (PPG)
The Practice strives to provide excellent healthcare. We welcome constructive feedback and suggestions to help shape our services to serve the needs of all of our patients. Our Patient Participation Group (PPG) meets at the practice to provide a forum for discussion about the practice.
